1. Undefined Certificate of Sponsorship (Undefined CoS)
An Undefined CoS is used for workers who:
Are already in the UK and switching to the Skilled Worker route.
Are applying through other visa routes such as the Intra-Company Transfer or Religious Worker route.
How to Apply for an Undefined CoS:

Annual Allocation & Renewal:
Expiry: Unused Undefined CoS expire on 5 April each year.
Renewal: Renewal requests should be submitted before this date.

2. Defined Certificate of Sponsorship (Defined CoS)
A Defined CoS is issued to overseas workers who are applying for a Skilled Worker visa from outside the UK. Employers must request this through the Sponsor Management System (SMS).

Processing Time: Generally processed within 1-2 working days.
Validity: Once granted, the CoS must be assigned within 3 months to remain valid.
